The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, has underscored the unwavering dedication and capability of Nigerian Army officers and soldiers in creating a safe and secure environment conducive to good governance and socio-economic development.
This commitment is being realized through collaborative efforts with sister services and various security agencies according to Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations posted on the Army X platform.
General Lagbaja made this declaration on Thursday, September 14, 2023, during the closing ceremony of the Chief of Army Staff Combined Second and Third Quarters Conference 2023, held at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Asokoro Abuja.
In his address to the conference attendees, the COAS emphasized that the briefings and presentations made during the conference reinforced the responsibilities and challenges facing the NA.
He urged all formation commanders to prepare their units to decisively counter the nation’s adversaries.
General Lagbaja further noted that the far-reaching decisions taken during the conference would catalyze for the NA to redefine its training and operational activities, ultimately achieving the desired outcomes.
General Lagbaja highlighted that the conference served as a crucial platform to review the Nigerian Army’s training, operational, and administrative activities directly related to national security.
During the event, the COAS also presented cheques to ten beneficiaries of the NA Personal Insurance Scheme.
This initiative aims to provide financial security and support to the families of personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in active service.
This gesture reflects the Nigerian Army’s appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices made by its personnel in defending the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
General Lagbaja expressed gratitude to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for his interventions in repositioning the Nigerian Army for optimal operational performance.
He pledged the unwavering loyalty of NA officers and soldiers to the Federal Government and the Nigerian Constitution.
General Lagbaja stressed that the Nigerian Army would continue to set a positive example for other armed forces.
A significant highlight of the conference was the decoration of Major General Abdul Kahlifa Ibrahim, the former Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), with the National Order of Chad medal of honor.
This prestigious award was presented to him by the Chadian Government in recognition of his outstanding service during his tour of duty.
