The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria (AHK Nigeria) says bilateral relations between Germany and Nigeria can be made stronger through the promotion of trade fairs. Katharina Felgenhauer, AHK Nigeria Delegate, made this known in Lagos on Wednesday.
She spoke regarding the ACHEMA Trade Fair 2022, which would hold from Aug. 22 to Aug. 26, in Frankfurt, Germany. NAN reports that ACHEMA is the triennial world forum for Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering and Biotechnology organised by the German Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (DECHEMA).
The sole aim of DECHEMA is to support development the above mentioned areas, including environmental protection. According to Felgenhauer, there is increasingly more business interest and focus on the Nigerian market.
“We hope to welcome Nigerian delegation to Frankfurt to promote Nigeria and also transfer some technology and knowledge back to the country. “We will support business delegations that attend ACHEMA because it is more than just a trade fair,” she said. Also, Dr Thomas Scheuring, CEO of DECHEMA Exhibitions, said after a two-year dry spell caused by the pandemic, the need for intensive technical and personal exchange was palpable.
“This is also reflected in the exhibitor demand as we currently have more than 2,000 registered exhibitors who will present their range of products, solutions and services for the process industries,” he said. He said one challenge the organisation already mastered was the shift to the “new normal” in the trade show world, adding that ACHEMA 2022 would offer inspiration, interaction and innovation.
“Trendsetting technology and global networking will continue to characterise the process industries’ leading show in 2022. “Manufacturers and service providers from almost 50 nations will present their products for the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, energy and environmental sectors,” he said.
Scheuring added that for the first time, ACHEMA would fully integrate congresses into the exhibition programme, noting that sessions would take place, either on stages directly in the exhibition halls, or in the immediate vicinity of the exhibition groups.
According to the organisers, ACHEMA 2022 would address focus topics including “Modular and Networked Production”, “The Digital Lab” and “Product and Process Security”.
