A twenty-five-year-old man Frank John has been arrested by operatives of the anti-kidnapping and cyber crimes unit of the Edo state police command for the attempted murder of two men, who with his gang members, held the victim hostage posing as a herbalist.
The man and several others who were paraded at the headquarters of the command for various crimes including fraud engaged their victims through Social media platforms.
A few days ago, two men, Shitu Hassan who resides in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State and Christian Sunday from Port Harcourt in Rivers state had a chat with the suspect, Frank John on social media using Facebook.
Frank John claimed to be a native doctor who was capable of making them rich without involving blood ritual and invited them to lgarra in Edo State but they met more than what they bargained for as they were attacked with sticks and machetes and forcefully dispossessed of their Automated Teller Machine ATM Cards and pin codes.
In a related situation, the Command Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime unit while investigating a case of fraud and stealing using technical intelligence arrested four suspects aged between twenty-one and twenty-three at Auchi in Edo North who were alleged to have defrauded their victim of three hundred thousand Naira and later the sum of three million, three hundred and forty-six thousand naira through transfer.
The police while warning members of the public on the need to be vigilant of their associations, promised to conduct a thorough investigations of the incidents before charging the case to court.
