President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja backed the All Progressives Congress candidate, Usman Ododo, with seven months until the Kogi governorship election.
This came as Ododo vowed to continue the state’s incumbent governor Yahaya Bello’s developmental achievements, which, in his view, were made possible through inclusive administration.
Ododo, who arrived at the State House with Bello, told reporters that Bello’s tutelage and his breadth of expertise in the private and public finance sectors have prepared him to properly govern the tiny state.
In his statement, the APC candidate expressed confidence in his party’s ability to win the November governorship election.
After winning a direct primary on April 14, 2023, Ododo was confirmed as the Kogi APC governorship candidate by the party’s extraordinary congress the following day.
Governor Bello voiced confidence in Ododo’s ability to secure additional victories for the party in the state during his speech.
He promised Kogi natives that the infrastructure renewal master plan, which, according to him, his administration started seven years ago, would continue.
Bello asserted that the Kogi State APC was cohesive and that it was in a strong position to deliver the next governor with a resounding victory.
Back in his office, the President endorsed the APC candidate and counseled the party’s Kogi chapter to run an issue-based campaign to guarantee the party’s continued rule in November.
