Police to search remote reservoir in Portugal for British child

Madeleine McCann

German police searching for Madeleine McCann are ready to launch a thorough search into a remote reservoir in Portugal that Christian Brueckner is suspected of frequenting.

In May 2007, the British child vanished from her parents’ vacation home in Praia da Luz.

Her Rothley, Leicestershire, parents Kate and Gerry McCann have persisted in believing Madeleine is still alive and would eventually be reunited with them.

Prior to the official start of the search tomorrow, police have started blocking access to the artificial dam next to the town of Silves.

On the plot of land, several local council vans could be seen as tents and other structures were being built.

Portuguese Civil Protection officials were observed behind them in another location, less than a mile away, erecting a sizable blue tent alongside police, who had raised their own blue tent.

Approximately twenty Policia Judiciaria personnel appear to be in charge of overseeing events at this time, according to a bystander.

It is believed that Scotland Yard investigators simply went there on a “watching brief.”
