According to reports, Manchester United and Newcastle are the most likely clubs to recruit Sadio Mane, with Bayern Munich eager to transfer the winger after a disastrous debut campaign.
The Senegalese star only relocated to Bayern Munich last summer after leaving Liverpool in a £27.4 million move.
The German champions had seen Mane, who shone for the Reds in the Premier League, as a major summer addition.
According to a report from Sky Sport Germany, Mane is anticipated to be sold by Bayern this summer as a result of a difficult season in which he has only scored 12 goals.
After the team’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal last month, Mane and Leroy Sane got into a post-game incident that left Sane’s face bloodied.
In retaliation, Bayern dropped Mane for their subsequent game and fined him £250,000, which is thought to have been a club record.
Only Premier League clubs are expected to be able to afford Mane’s £17.4 million salary, according to reports in Germany.
The former Liverpool star is now rumored to be interested in a bargain transfer to Man United, who are looking to bolster their attack in the summer.
Mane, a forward who can play on the left or in the center, would provide a diverse attacking option to support top scorer Marcus Rashford.
The connection comes as questions about Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial’s responsibilities on the team are being raised.
Mane revealed in 2017 that he was’really close’ to joining Man United in 2016 before to moving to Liverpool.
Sky Florian Plettenberg of Germany asserted that Newcastle may be a’very hot alternative’ for Mane, as the Magpies are expected to look for reinforcements ahead of a European campaign next season.
The addition of Mane, who has previously excelled in both the Champions League and the Premier League, would strengthen Eddie Howe’s attack as Newcastle possibly gets ready for Champions League play.
Given that Jurgen Klopp’s team has spent £44 million on Cody Gakpo and £85 million on Darwin Nunez since Sadio Mane left last summer, a return to Liverpool is seen as unlikely.
Chelsea was said to be keeping an eye on Mane’s status at Bayern last month in preparation for a prospective move, despite their substantial transfer expenditure over the previous 12 months.
Spain and Italy could be Mane’s other options if a return to the Premier League doesn’t materialize.
Barcelona may be interested in a projected low-cost transfer in light of their ongoing efforts to balance their finances, especially if the LaLiga champions’ attempt to resign Lionel Messi fails.
In Serie A, Juventus might be a consideration as the Italian powerhouse looks to bounce back from three straight seasons without a league championship.
Mane has reportedly been identified as one of the Saudi Arabian Government’s big-name targets as the country looks to entice talents to their league, according to Caught Offside.
While Messi has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, Cristiano Ronaldo moved there in January and earned £175 million a year to play for Al-Nassr, l-Nassr, while Messi is rumored to be moving to Al-Hilal for £522 million.
