In their second match at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria beat a formidable Egypt after they trade tackles, the tournament’s hosts.
After failing to respond to Souleymane Faye’s opportunistic first-half goal, the WAFU-B winners were humiliated 1-0 by West African brothers Senegal on matchday one.
Yet, Egypt’s performance was only marginally better as Mozambique held the Young Pharaohs to a boring 0-0 stalemate.
However, Nigeria was driven to victory against host Egypt in order to ease the fears of their fervent home supporters of the game.
Because the Flying Eagles, cannot afford to lose two games in a row because that would have been the end of their journey at the 17th iteration of the biennial international youth football competition in Africa.
