Nigeria’s Tima Godbless stormed to a Personal Best (PB) and National Junior Record (NJR) of 11.08s (0.1), to win the fourth heat of the Women’s 100m event at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia.

Godbless broke the NJR set by Joan Uduak Ekah which had stood for 23 years by two-hundredths of a second, and was the fastest qualifier across all seven (7) heats of the Women’s 100m.

It was a very fast time from Godbless, which now sees her as a major medal contender.

Her teammate Praise Oforku also qualified for the semifinals from the preceding heat, running 11.55s to finish 2nd behind South Africa’s Viwe Jingqi in 11.36s.
