Palace draw Fulham 2-2 on Ward late equalizer

Joel Ward celebrate his goal for Crystal Palace for the first time since a 3-1 loss to Manchester United in February 2019.

Saturday’s encounter between Crystal Palace and Fulham ended in a 2-2 draw after a late goal from Joel Ward. The visitors’ striker Aleksandar Mitrovic had scored twice on his first appearance following an eight-match suspension.

With 52 points from 37 games, Fulham is still in tenth position, four points behind ninth-place Brentford. Palace, with 44, jumps past of Chelsea, who plays league-leader Manchester City on Sunday, to move up to 11th.

Odsonne Edouard’s ferocious shot in the 34th minute gave Palace the lead. Following a Fulham corner, Eberechi Eze had set the Frenchman up after he had been sent in on goal.

Just before halftime, Tyrick Mitchell tackled Fulham forward Harry Wilson, and Mitrovic stepped up to score the ensuing penalty past Sam Johnstone to tie the score.

The Serbian international gave Fulham the lead with a powerful header in the 61st minute while playing without a number on his back due to needing a new shirt due to a bloody nose.

However, Ward saved a point for the visitors by putting in a rebound in the 83rd minute after Fulham failed to stop a set-piece.
